Efficient Recycling on Construction Sites gains more and more importance

The family-run Schmid construction equipment rental company, founded in 1998, has expanded steadily in recent years to meet customer requirements. Schmid’s clientele appreciates the quick and uncomplicated handling, as well as the broad product portfolio, which, in addition to mini excavators, wheel loaders, dumpers, vibrating plates, cutting machines, construction dryers, wood chippers, stump grinders and much more, also includes screening plants. “More and more customers asked for a way to process stony earth, excavated material or building rubble so that parts of it could be reused immediately. So I searched for opportunities and, thanks to Apolczer Baumaschinen GmbH, I came across XAVA vibrating screens, ”says company owner Günter Schmid.

Vibrating Screen LS14 very well established

Schmid was immediately convinced of the compact screener model LS14:

„It is really very easy to use and is exactly what many of our customers are looking for in order to prepare their excavation on the construction site or to screen stony earth.“

The screening machine is equipped with a standard 230 Volt power connection and usually loaded with a mini excavator. A usual car trailer is optimal for transport and a lifting device or chains are used for loading and unloading. “Customers come from far because they cannot rent a vibrating screen like this everywhere.” The target group is widely spread, the screens are perfect for construction companies, composters, wood chip producers, farmers, garden centers or private construction sites. “Maintenance and wear and tear are low and the support from Apolczer construction machines is excellent”, Günter Schmid is satisfied.

Vibrating Screen LS28 for larger processing projects

At the beginning of March, Schmid invested in the largest vibrating screen of the XAVA range in order to meet requests that require a larger screening machine to be loaded with a 5 ton loader. “Since the disposal topic is becoming more and more present and sensitive and recycling will continue to be an important and future-oriented industry, I decided to buy another vibrating screen,” explains Schmid. For processing projects from 50m³ upwards, you are well advised to use a XAVA Vibrating Screen LS28. It weighs 1.7 tons and has a screenig surface of ​​8.35 m². The two screen decks with differently sized and easily exchangeable screen coverings ensure even throughput and versatile areas of application, such as building rubble, wood chips, wood, earth, gravel or compost.

A price / performance calculation pays off

For most Schmid screening plant rental customers, processing with a vibrating screen is a new experience. They want to test the screen and thanks to fairly calculated daily rental prices of € 100 for the LS14 and € 200 for the LS28, the hurdle is not too great. “The major part of my customers screens soil. Screened humus costs 16-20 € / m³ in our area – so they don’t need to buy one, plus of course the savings for transport. In addition, earth and stones are equated to building rubble and the disposal costs are 12-15 € / t.”

“If excavated material is screened on site and can be used again immediately, only one fraction has to be disposed. You don’t have to buy any or less humus, you save transport costs and, of course, CO2 emissions, ”says Schmid.

He is convinced of the great added value of processing with a vibrating screen: “After many customers are now testing the vibrating screens and the feedback is extremely good, I also see potential in the sale of XAVA screens.
